Ievgen Metsger, Chairman of UFHC, met with Mr. Roberto Vila-Sexto, Head of Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Ukraine, and Ms. Alina Moskalenko, Director of Housing Institute of NRC Rep Office.
Previously, a four-party statement on strategic cooperation was signed by UFHC, the NRC Rep Office in Ukraine, the Housing Institute and the State Fund for the Promotion of Youth Housing Construction.
During this meeting, the parties discussed potential areas of cooperation, focusing on modernizing housing policy in Ukraine. Ievgen Metsger provided an overview of UFHC activities and presented the results of the yeOselia programme. To date, over 13,500 Ukrainian families have participated in the programme, with a total of almost UAH 22 billion in loans disbursed. The programme has become one of the most successful initiatives since Ukraine’s independence.
Mr. Roberto Vila-Sexto emphasized that the Norwegian Refugee Council aims to support the implementation of housing policy and sustainable financing for housing programmes in Ukraine.
The parties also discussed facilitating partnerships with international and national institutions involved in housing policy. An important aspect of the collaboration will be identifying opportunities to attract funding, technical support, and expertise from foreign partners. This will help effectively implement housing projects for Ukraine’s most vulnerable groups.
Participants agreed to support the attraction of funding for housing programmes for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups within international initiatives and through cooperation with international financial institutions.
Note: The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent Norwegian humanitarian organization that assists displaced people. The organization advocates for the rights of displaced persons and those affected by crises, providing aid to meet urgent humanitarian needs, prevent further displacement, and help find long-term solutions.
