Together with the Government and the Ministry of Economy, we are working on changes to improve the conditions of housing for internally displaced persons – Ievgen Metsger

This was emphasized by Ievgen Metsger, Chairman of Management Board at UFHC, during the parliamentary-municipal forum-dialogue “Housing for Internally Displaced Persons”. The event was held in Zakarpattia region.

The forum, organized by the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the Protection of Property and Non-Property Rights of Internally Displaced Persons and Other Persons Affected by the armed aggression of russia against Ukraine, was attended by people’s deputies, representatives of the government, local authorities, territorial communities, NGOs and international partners.

During the forum, they discussed updating the legislation to provide housing for internally displaced people, financial and credit mechanisms for the realization of the right to housing for IDPs, the implementation of housing projects with international partners, etc.

During his speech, Ievgen Metsger said that together with the Government, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Digital Transformation, UFHC is constantly working to improve the terms and conditions of the ‘yeOselia’ mortgage program so that as many Ukrainians as possible can benefit from it. “Currently, there is an exigent problem with housing for people who were forced to leave their homes and start their lives anew because of Russia’s war against us. Many of them have to do so for the second time. Therefore, we are actively developing changes to make ‘yeOselia’ more accessible to this category of Ukrainians. In addition, we are working on developing separate products for IDPs with the most favorable conditions.”

Several regions of the country have compensation programs for IDPs with the support of local governments. For instance, in Zakarpattia and Chernivtsi regions, 3% of interest rate is compensated under ‘yeOselia’ for people who were forced to leave their homes. The full list of regional programs is available here.
