The first veteran borrower was a military signalman who has been defending Ukraine in the war against the russian aggressor since 2016. He and his wife bought a two-bedroom apartment in Bucha, Kyiv region. In addition, five families of internally displaced persons have already benefited from the program. The program has helped them start a new life in the Ukraine-controlled territory.
Since August 1, ‘yeOselia’ mortgages have been available to war veterans and their families, combatants, people with disabilities caused by war, and families of deceased war veterans. According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, ‘yeOselia’ is one of the key elements of the new veterans’ policy. He stated this during the VI International Veterans Forum “Ukraine. Defenders. Future.” “The state is already formulating a new veteran policy without waiting for the end of the war, and affordable housing is one of its key priorities,” he added.
IDP borrowers emphasize the importance of ‘yeOselia’ work, as it is a chance to buy their own home in a new place. “We fled the war twice. The first time was from Donetsk in 2014. We did not expect that the occupiers would catch up with us the second time – in Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region,” says Iryna, whose family bought an apartment in Irpin, Kyiv region, under the program. “A mortgage at 7% is really a chance for those who have some savings not to rent a house all the time, but to pay a loan for their own property,” she adds.
In total, since the launch of ‘yeOselia’ in October last year, 3,068 mortgages have been issued for more than UAH 4.3 billion. Thanks to the work of UFHC and the government, the program’s funding has been increased. It should be enough for at least 10 thousand transactions.
We remind you that you can apply for participation in ‘yeOselia’ only in the Diia mobile application. You can do it again if you have received a previous refusal for one reason or another.
