On 9 December 2024, the World Bank launched a virtual mission aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of PJSC “Ukrainian Financial Housing Company” (UFHC).
This initiative is an important part of the joint efforts of the Government of Ukraine and international partners to modernize the country’s housing policy.
Management of UFHC took part in the first series of meetings to discuss the company’s results and prospects for the development of the state program “yeOselia”. Particular attention was paid to reforming housing financing mechanisms, developing a new State Strategy for Housing Policy of Ukraine, and improving the company’s business model to ensure efficient use of available resources.
We remind you that in June 2024, the Government of Ukraine and the World Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at modernizing the state housing policy of Ukraine. The document was signed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, World Bank Vice President Antonella Bassani and International Finance Corporation Vice President Alfonso Garcia Mora.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to create an efficient housing ecosystem with active participation of the private sector, which will stimulate economic growth and increase the resilience of Ukraine’s economy. This cooperation will include development of a national housing strategy, simplification of regulations for new construction, improved protection of citizens in purchasing real estate, and creation of incentives for private banks to provide affordable loans to Ukrainian families.
The World Bank, as part of its strategic partnership with Ukraine, will provide expert support in developing mortgage lending mechanisms that will facilitate access to quality and affordable housing.
“We are grateful to the World Bank for supporting Ukraine in this important period. Together we are creating conditions for stable development of the housing market and providing citizens with decent housing conditions,” said Ievgen Metsger, Chairman of Management Board at UFHC.
